Call of Duty Elite Beta

CODELITE

Call of Duty Elite is the new online service that will be launched publicly with Modern Warfare 3. At first glance it looks a lot like the in game player card information. As you explore the site it gets more and more detailed.

Call of Duty Elite The site is easy to use all of the information is pretty clear and easy to locate.  I’m still exploring all of the different things it tracks and does. It is very in depth and looks very nice.

The website is split into several sections: Career, Connect, Compete, Improve, and a Search Bar. Below I’ll give a brief description of each one.

Career:  This section shows all of the player card information, Latest game stats, KDR’s, Weapon Stats, Heat Map, and other game history stats. All of these stats are detailed enough in the game the website just provides the same information using different visuals, graphs, and images.

Connect:  Start an in game group (I’m not exactly clear on the difference between a group verses a clan), view pictures and videos in the theater (although they must be uploaded via recording them from your in game theater on your console or PC) , and review clan activity and members.

Compete:  Roll call allows the player to enter contests and win prizes for capturing certain specific actions on the in game theater recorder.  Winning videos are posted and the player receives special badges and other Call of Duty SWAG.  Again these videos must be uploaded via recording them on your in game theater mode.

Improve: This section lets you review all weapon properties, detailed map layouts, explanation of all game modes, equipment, and some simple tips to help players improve game play.

Search:  The search bar lets you find any player and review their data as well.

Final Thoughts
I’ve used other stat recording sites in the past and COD Elite is by far the most detailed. Of course this has Activision (Big Bucks) behind it. If they can keep the level of content and social interaction high look for this program to do very well.

This is a Beta so some features were still inaccessible. Even with what was there it’s a very large site full of information, but it is not overwhelming. With the addition of all DLC maps, skins, ect. the price of $50 per year isn’t totally out of line. Consider that the map packs are $14.99 each if they release 4 packs per year that would definitely make it a bargain.

I look forward to the complete product and I guess we will see how well received it is with all of the COD players.

  2. My wife got a virus on her new laptop. Excellent! Now I have to invest the rest of my day attempting to copy her documents and remove the trojan or re-install the software. Maybe I need to locate a new woman. Just kidding.
