Another floor concept
« on: November 11, 2011, 09:44:56 PM »
6 shots shown here.
http://jason-design.com/lancenter/

Obviously, a lot of the items in here are just place holders (ie comps).

24 comps
8 xboxes
1 projection screen for movies/wii/xbox/youtube vids/etc.  I put this up front so that the storefront has a better draw in the sense that people are dancing or watching some BIG game going on.  <shrug>  Why hide it?  lol

Behind the counter will be small foods and drinks.  On the table there will be little merch like Magic Cards and other small quick sell items.

Thoughts?

I like it as well.  The rendering may also help you get more prospective funds/investors as you seem to have a very clear concept.

I might also recommend having a table top gaming area since you mentioned Magic cards...to help develop that culture in your center.  Blister pack tournaments are a great way to push sales of merch and concessions without costing you much over head except some flexible floor space.

Looks very cool though.

Good luck.

@ johnlarson: thanks!

@Skyshark: I was thinking about that.  Where would you suggest I should put that.  The durrent dims are 34'x100'.  What size table(s) do you suggest?

Where doesn't matter too much....but I would suggest getting some of the fold-up buffet tables and some comfortable folding chairs.  I think Level Up (Rsteele) does this as well.  Table are relatively inexpensive and wouldn't take up much room in storage.

The fold up tables are the way to go for food areas and extra seating. We used them inside, outside when we grill, and they can be moved easily.

The pool table is too close to the computers actually. You know, gamers are going to get poked to move or struck in the head by someone who doesn't pay attention to what's behind them! :D

Our Pool table is approximately 10-13 Feet from the PC's and has a seating area between the two. Imagine the players shooting pool chipping a shot the cue ball flies off the table and smashes in to a monitor or worse the back of someone's head on the PC.

The noise isn't a factor everyone has headsets but we allowed 5-6' all the way around the Pool table and again extra space between that and the PC's.

That layout is cool.  I scribbled mine out on scratch paper and sort of adjusted things as we went.

I would like to have a layout like that made for my stores.

Google SketchUp and about 2-3 days of full work LOL  (part of that was learning the program though).

What is great about SketchUp are the community models.  MOST of that layout is just using the in-program search feature to find objects (like the pool table, couches, toilet etc).

Once I got some feedback from you guys, I adjusted the layout easily.  Moved the pool table, added some seats to the game area, put "bricks" on the wall etc.

Only drawback is the lighting.  By default it only has the sun - unless you buy plugins.  Therefore the ambience is off.  I want it to be darker and allow the screens and some of the wall lighting to accent the place.  But C'est la vie.

At least this may help in securing a loan.  God I hate being poor and having to support a family to boot.  ><

For lighting check out http://ledbarlight.com/[/b]]http://ledbarlight.com/

we searched for cool looking affordable lighting and found VERY little. So on the over head flo tubes we bought colored plastic and laid it in the diffuser every where else we have LED's that we can change the color on. blue, green, red, purple, orange, yellow, pretty much any color you want.

Ohhhhh that is sweet!  Thanks for the link.  What I am probably looking at is to light under the "desks" with a blue light.  Almost like car fx.
