All Points Bulletin: Reloaded!!!In case you aren't familiar with APB, the game actually came out last summer under Scottish developers Realtime Worlds. It cost approximately 100 MILLION dollars to make. What followed was arguably the worst launch in MMO history, the game officially went offline after only three months. A few months after that, K2 networks bought the game for a mere 2.4 million and said they would re-launch the game as free to play.
The game is essentially an open world game of cops and robbers. You either make an enforcer or a criminal. Design your clothes, tatoos, and vehicles any way you can imagine (with an amazing series of editors) Then they turn you lose in a living city with 99 other players. You get dispatched on missions against other players anywhere from 1v1 to 4v4, which can then scale upwards if players call for backup. (I was in a couple 12v12's) Theres car chases, assassination missions, "capture the flag," etc etc. FUN!!!
Closed beta is going to begin in a day or two. 2500 invites were sent out to west coast players (who applied.) The 2nd big wave of invites will be to European players, and the third wave to US east. Open beta should be starting in a few months' time.
I played APB in it's first run and I absolutely loved it. I can confidently say APB is my all time
second favorite
online game I've ever played. (Under the legendary Planetside of course) During a little LAN last summer I had the pleasure of playing the game with my 3 buddies in the same room. It was an absolute riot. We're tentatively planning a super APB marathon LAN when the game is re-released. (4-6 days long baby)
Unofortunately it's too late to apply for closed beta, but theres no reason you can't get into open beta when it rolls around. Here is the official page:
