Skyrim !!!!SPOILER WARNING!!!!
« on: November 12, 2011, 08:26:54 AM »
!HOLY CRAP!

!!!Spoiler alert!!!

This game is amazing So far after completing only 3 quests on the main story line I've killed a dragon, dual wielded magic spells, thrown fireballs while holding a shield or sword, gotten some really awesome powers, and it is an amazing game.

Bethesda does better and better this one takes everything oblivion did and does it better then adds in some new tricks too. I can't remember playing anything close to this. The world they immerse you in feels alive. Things happen regardless of your involvement or interactions. Wolves and people hunt game. The world map is even impressive. Everything I hoped it would be and more. Best part picked a copy up at Kmart for $26 with coupons plus got another $15 dollar coupon when I bought it.

I am NOT trying to downplay Skyrim.  But does Gabe portray an accurate description here:

See that was my issue with the other ones.  I completely respect the game but I don't know if it is my type.

I've never seen a game play like Skyrim. The world around you is alive and you don't have to interact with it in order for events to take place. Factions fight eachother bandits hunt wild animals. I was watching 2 customers play earlier tonight and on one of their games they encountered a dragon which attacked a large wooly mammoth.

The mammoth proceeded to BEAT THE HELL out of the dragon. Different dragons have different levels of power just like other enemies.

I've been playing for about 10 hours total and the guys I was watching about the same amount of time and we have all three had totally different experiences. I've got a guy swapping between MW3 and Skyrim every couple of hours so it appeals to a large base of players.

What that reviewer fails to realize is the amount of replayability that the choices add to a game. You can choose whatever path you want and it does effect the story which is why I like it. I get to choose my own story. Instead of one that's already been written in stone.

1 other big factor for me...I GET TO SLAY FREAKIN DRAGONS. I plan to pick up several other copies next week this is one single player game that customers can spend countless hours on and only scratch the surface. Oblivion was good this game is great.

I haven't played any of the "werewolf" quests but I know about them.

I've been very busy with console repairs since coming back from our Thanksgiving break. I have squeezed in some hours on Skyrim. I must say it's one of the most impressive games I've played.

The way the story lines are written could go up against anything I've seen or heard about. I say story lines because there are SO many. I just took over the mage college as the new ARCH MAGE, I've killed 20 or so Dragons, I have a shout that can call down a thunderstorm...yes I can actually call down a freaking THUNDERSTORM to attack my enemies. I'm currently taking a break from Skyrim to get somethings in order for Christmas. Decorations, Toys for Tots, other charity work, and scheduling events for Level Up.

More Skyrim awesomeness.  This Kinect hacker created a gesture based control set for Skyrim.  The picture-in-picture view of him controlling seems to be slightly delayed...but looks great.  Could imagine doing this in front of a projection wall with life-size enemies.
