Hey folks
« on: August 17, 2011, 01:08:35 AM »
Hey guys, I've been reading through the website and forum posts with the interest of starting my own gaming center. I've started on a basic business plan, but don't have much down yet. I consider myself an entrepreneur, seeking out new ways of making money, and I've been rolling the idea of a LAN center around in my head for a couple years. There is some really good content on here, and I've learned a LOT of valuable info just from looking around for a few hours. Anyways, I'm just dropping this here as my intro post and to say hi to everyone, see yall around on the forums!

Oh, and Deeds, I noticed you said "Yeah nothing that large would work here in Arkansas, population density is just not high enough." in http://startalancenter.com/forum/business-planning/franchising/ . Do you live in, or have any gaming centers in Arkansas? I've lived here for almost my whole life (North Little Rock) and have only seen the Conway Gaming Center.

xD I just noticed the thread below mine has the same title... I did not mean to copy, sorry!

CGS is just one of a few.  CGS just happens to be the only left that's an iGames center if I remember correctly.  You've had Daily Planet and its no more (at least on the LAN Center side).  And I think there's now two different ones in little rock.  One on Cantrell and I don't remember the street the other is on or if its even open.  Their starting plan was spotty at best.

Benton has had one that has come and gone.  Fayetteville now has one. And those are pretty much the ones I'm aware of that are still around.   I no longer have any gaming centers I've either sold them or forced me getting bought out.  But each one after I left crumbled and are no more.

I can't seem to find any on google other than CGC. I might see if the one on Cantrell is still open, but I doubt it. I'm thinking about opening one in Maumelle. Good demographics, highest average income in Arkansas, not much else to compete with in terms of entertainment, great locations all over downtown Maumelle, and a massive high school just opened in town. CGC is pretty tacky. All their gear is on foldup tables with a cloth draped over them, wires laying around everywhere, isn't visually appealing, and the only food/drinks they offer is a small vending machine with canned soda and chips. They have to be doing something right to be up as long as they have been though, and the owner told me they are going to start hiring pretty soon.

CGS primarily does Magic now.  Last I was their it appeared the LAN was the least of concerns.
