I couldn't launch SL 4.1.115 with my 4.1.385ish database.  So, i just remoted in and started typing.  At this point ive spend an hour or 2 the past handful of morning and i feel its getting there.    I'm sure someone with some dbase skills could migrate the users info over, etc.

I figure if i end up doing all of it by hand, it was destiny telling me to do some spring cleaning.

I could probably do it, but it's tedious work. I'd need the current database, as well as the target database example(an empty one should be generated on install).  That's something I would charge for though, that's not light work.

Installed a trial version of MS Access, in limited testing, to get SL 4.1.115 loaded with my current 4.1.385 i had to remake the "IP" field under the "Computers" Table.  One of the patches added the IPv4 and IPv6 fields and removed the generic IP field.

I'll be farting with it tomorrow morning in closer to live environment.

I think we are going to try something Monday.  Worse comes to worse we will have to start over, which we would have to do with CCP.

CCP doesn't provide a conversion tool?

It appears they do not. None is listed on their site and google turns up nothing.  John if you're interested I'd be willing to convert them for you or write a program that will do it for a small fee.  I'll look into CCP's database today and see what can be transferred and what can't.  At the least you should be able to retain your customer accounts and personal details, and possibly time/money balances.

I am way to cheap to do that.  I have a night person that can do that in the middle of the night, we are open 24/7 so they are here anyway.

Someone posted a script in the SL forums for converting 4.5 back to 4.1.

I am not sure if a script is really needed.  We just converted ours following the post on the SL forums:

Quote
Hey guys, you don't need to be geniuses to get your version 4.5 Smartlaunch database to work on the 4.1 cracked version.

I got my db from the updated 4.5 version to work on the cracked version and its absolutely simple and easy to do.

If you migrate from the 4.5 version db and try to use it on version 4.1 your Server gets stuck at 'initializing listener' yes?

Simple solution - all you need to do is have Microsoft Access installed and you will be good to go.

Now make a backup before you tinker with your db - in case you mess it up somehow.

First, you open the db using Microsoft Access

Open the Computers table and in that table, proceed to delete the following columns -
IPv6 and DisklessIP
- There is another column, IPv4, rename that column to IP.

After that, save your database, if you want you may also want to compact and repair it and you are good to go. -

This should be enough to get your 4.1 installation working working with your 4.5 db.

There are are more tables and fields that the StinkLounge team has added to the 4.5 db, if you feel up to the task, here's the list

Delete the FinancialReceipts table

In the Offers table, delete the following columns ->
ExpiresAtLogout , ExpiresAtSpecificDate ,

Delete the PrepaidCards_Cards table
Delete the PrepaidCards_Categories table
Delete the PrepaidCards_Codes table
Delete the PrepaidCards_Products
Delete the PrepaidCards_Providers

In the Products table delete the column CardProductID

In the Usergroups table, delete the following columns
Deleted
ChangeUsergroupAfterUsergroupID
ChangeUsergroupAfterMinutesUsed
ChangeUsergroupAfterMoneyUsed
ChangeUsergroupBackLessMoneyThen
ChangeUsergroupBackLessMinutesThen
ChangeUsergroupBackAfterMinutesUsed
ChangeUsergroupBackUsergroupID

and then in the Users table, before we get to deleting, they edited the username field from maximum characters of 20 to 50, so in Access 2007, you open the Users table using Design View, (right click the Users table and select design view) click username. Underneath u will see a grey tab Labeled General - and in there Field Size with a value of 50, go in there and change it from 50 back to 20. You can go click save in the quick access toolbar, then below the Office button, change the view back to Datasheet View.

then you may continue ->in the Users table delete the following column/fields
Deleted
SLConnectID
MinutesSpentInUsergroup
MoneySpentInUsergroup
SLGUID
SLGUEmailStatus
SLGUMobilePhoneStatus

and that's all the deleting you need to do, to restore your version 4.5 db to a 4.1 usable database.

In case you're wondering, this info came from a side by side db comparison - old vs new so its entirely safe -as long as you can play around with Access or any other .mdb editing tool. Do not delete any other tables whose function you are not sure of as this may break your database and render it completely unusable
remember to compact and repair your database before you try it out in the cracked version of 4.1.115.

Users please post feedback if this works for you

cheers (and StinkLounge - Up Yours!!)

We also had to change the number of controllers in design view from 8 to 4.

Also what is real cool is that the admin will auto-downgrade.

We are going live with this now at store #1.
