This game is an absolute must for a game center. COD4:MW brought my game center many hours of play. Especially with me being located at one time close to a Military base. The campaign is short once again but it makes up for it with an alternate mode called Spec Ops (Special Operations). You do missions that are objective based for points. Its actually quite fun but some of the objectives are absolutely insane.
Not to mention that MW2 is the largest software title release on any system. This is some information I found over on yahoo
According to internal figures released by Activision, opening day sales for its heavily-anticipated game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 smashed records, generating $310 million in 24 hours in North America and the U.K. to become the “the biggest launch in history across all forms of entertainment.”
The game shipped worldwide on Tuesday, although Activision has not released sales data from regions other than the U.S. and U.K. The company estimates that roughly 4.7 million copies of the game were sold in the first day of availability in just those two territories.
The previous record-holder, Grand Theft Auto IV, sold 3.6 million copies and generated $310 million worldwide in its first day. If Activision’s numbers are correct, Modern Warfare managed to eclipse those figures in only two regions, meaning the game’s final worldwide tally is likely to be significantly higher.
And that’s simply staggering, as the U.S. and U.K. figures alone dwarf both the record-setting $150 million opening weekend of last year’s “The Dark Knight” and the $300 million earned by fellow first-person shooter, Halo 3, in its first week.
Mike Griffith, CEO of Activision Publishing, celebrated.
“The shattering of these entertainment records is a testament to the compelling, cinematic and uniquely engaging experience that the Call of Duty brand delivers,” he said in a press release. “Modern Warfare 2 has taken interactive experience to unprecedented heights setting a new standard for entertainment.”
The modern day war game takes players around the globe as they track down a dangerous international terrorist. It’s particularly popular as an online game, although the sudden influx of players has already proven too much for the PS3 version’s online servers to handle. Things have been rosier on the Xbox 360: earlier today, Microsoft spokesperson Major Nelson tweeted that the Xbox Live service just hit a new record of 2 million simultaneous players.

How does programs like smartlaunch, etc. manage games like MW2? I thought these games were tied to specific steam accounts.

@Dolly it’s true for at least another 2 months. When MW3 comes out. MW2 was a bigger draw before Black Ops but plenty of players don’t like Black Ops and prefer the older game.
These games have an almost cult following. MW2 has it Halo 3 has it. Even after the next game in a series comes out these games still have a massive player base. Sometimes 2-3 new releases of the same series pass before player base really starts to move on.
Easy fix for the steam issues get these games on the console side. I see many more players for WoW or LOL than any of the shooters on the PC. Even games like Left 4 Dead that are on the steam cafe program get way more play on the console side.
I haven’t had any issues with steam as a whole “yet” rarely a game will have a steam side issue and not be playable but they offer around 300 games with their cafe program and they have been adding some here lately. Portal 2, Magika, and Red Orchestra 2 are the last three they have added to the program.
